CANVAS
WEBSITE: pomfret.instructure.com
Single-sign-on with your Pomfret Google account
You can also access Canvas by clicking the "waffle" in Google
Canvas is the Learning Management System (LMS) used by Pomfret School. All classes/courses are 'built' here.
ASSET ESSENTIALS
Used for maintenance requests on campus.
In Chrome, navigate to the tile/waffle and scroll down until you see Asset Essentials - click on the icon to open the program
DORM COMMON ROOMS
Dorm common rooms are equipped with TVs and AppleTVs (except Kniffin - which is piloting a no-AppleTV-smart TV setup)
Pomfret School pays for YouTube TV in all common rooms and many shared spaces like Soft Auditorium, the Lodge, etc. This is cost-effective because multiple locations can use the same account with a few streaming at the same time. We manage YouTube TV logins so if you ever notice a TV that is signed out, please let us know and we will log in again.
Students are welcome to sign-in with their own personal accounts for other TV services like Netflix, Prive Video, HBO, hulu, etc. AppleTVs should not require any passwords if students are downloading free apps like those. Students should sign-out of their accounts unless they agree to share it with others on the hall.
ZOOM & ZOOM PHONE
Most classroom teachers have Basic accounts for Zoom Meetings (40 minute time limit). If you need to go longer you can use Google Meet instead.
Even if you do not have a physical office space on campus with a desk phone, you still have a Pomfret phone number through Zoom.
You can use this number to receive calls, voicemails (transcribed and sent to your email), and make outgoing phone calls for school-related business.
We highly recommend you download the Zoom app for Mac, and iOS/Android
ADOBE CREATIVE CLOUD
Employees have access to the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite
Check this support solution on specifics for setting you your Adobe access
Once you have installed the Creative Cloud for Desktop application, you can download any individual apps that you want to use.
ARCTIC WOLF (CYBERSECURITY)
Ongoing Training & Testing: Employees complete brief cybersecurity training modules approximately every three weeks and participate in periodic, simulated phishing tests to help recognize emerging threats.
Immediate Feedback: If you click on a simulated phishing email, you will receive immediate guidance highlighting the specific red flags you can look for in the future.
Reporting Suspicious Emails: If you suspect an email is malicious, click the orange phishing hook icon in your email toolbar (not available on mobile devices). Reporting the message automatically alerts the security team, so no further action is required.
Verifying Email Headers (Gmail): If you are unsure about an email's authenticity, click the three dots (⋮) in the top-right corner of the message and select Show original. Check that the SPF, DKIM, and DMARC lines all display PASS.
STUDENT IOT (INTERNET OF THINGS) DEVICES
Students need permission from their advisor to connect gaming systems to Pomfret School internet
Neither Freshman nor Sophomore students are allowed to have gaming devices in their rooms
For students that request permission, you should send your written permission to techsupport@pomfret.org and we can arrange a time to help them. No action is needed from you after you send your permission to us.
For devices like Alexas, Google Home, etc, students do not require permission but must still reach out to us to schedule a registration appointment. Our enterprise wifi will not easily allow many of these devices to connect without some help from us.
